Director, Information Technology

"My favorite thing about working at Ensign, beyond the amazing culture, is working with brilliant people in each department.  Being able to learn from people who are passionate about their work is fun to be around."

Tell us about yourself.

I graduated from East Texas Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Management of Information Systems. After graduating, I quickly moved into Information Technology consulting with small to medium sized businesses, primarily in the Health Care and Energy sectors. From there, I moved to working directly in the Energy sector at a start-up publicly traded Upstream Operator where I gained experience scaling the I.T. infrastructure and strategy in a rapidly growing company. Finally, I joined Ensign Natural Resources in early 2019, and as Director of Information Technology. I have overseen the design, implementation, and long-term strategic goals for all I.T. infrastructure and cybersecurity efforts.

How is Ensign different from other places you have worked?

I’ve had the pleasure of working for some great companies, but Ensign is different in at least one critical way. While most companies stress the importance of culture, Ensign stands apart from the rest in its commitment to setting and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement, data science, and use of technology to operate as efficiently as possible in all areas of the business. Employees at all levels of the organization chart are not only encouraged to bring forward ideas that could improve efficiency, but also work cross-departmentally to implement and test these ideas. As part of continuous improvement, failure is looked upon as an opportunity to iterate and find a better solution. It’s a pleasure working with a leadership team that has such a clear vision and understanding of how to cultivate and maintain such a strong culture and corporate identity.

What is your favorite thing about working at Ensign?

My favorite thing about working at Ensign, beyond the amazing culture, is working with such brilliant people in each department. Being able to learn from people who are passionate about their work is fun to be around.

What would you say to someone who was interested in working at Ensign?

Ensign’s work culture may not be for everyone. Employees are empowered to work independently, make decisions, and effect change within the company, however, this comes with a certain level of responsibility. You should be a self-motivated person who does not need micromanagement to get your tasks done accurately and on time.
